Requirements for Participation in the Choral Program
Shoreline Singers is a choral group for teens and adults. Teens must be in ninth grade or older. There is no audition for the ensemble, and no experience is necessary.
Dues
Members are responsible for paying participation dues each semester. Dues are $115/semester, and must be paid by the registration date in order to guarantee participation. If two members of a family are joining, dues are $100 each. Additional discounts available upon request if more than two members of a family are joining. There is an option to pay in more than one installment if needed, upon request.
Registration
To register for the upcoming semester, please print and complete the registration form and mail the form with full payment of dues to Rebecca Degnan/Shoreline Singers at 19 Camp Bethel Road, Haddam, CT 06438. Payment can be made in cash, or you may make checks payable to Shoreline Singers. The registration deadline for spring 2019 is February 3.
Attendance
Members are expected to attend all rehearsals and the concert at the end of the semester. Failure to attend rehearsals or the concert will not entitle member to any reimbursement of payment. If member is unable to attend a rehearsal for any reason, an email in advance is appreciated so I can plan accordingly. If a member misses two or more rehearsals, I reserve the right to withhold that member from performing at the concert at my discretion.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will take place at the Higganum Congregational Church, 23 Parsonage Road, Higganum, CT 06441. Most rehearsals will take place on Wednesdays. However, according to need, some rehearsals may take place on Friday evenings.
Cancelled Rehearsals
If a rehearsal is cancelled due to inclement weather or for any reason, I will email members to notify them. In the case of inclement weather, please check your email before going to the rehearsal.
Performances
Shoreline Singers has one formal concert each semester as well as occasional community performances. All members are expected to attend those concerts. Inability to perform or complete the semester for any reason will not be grounds for reimbursement of dues. When the opportunity arises, we may participate in community performances as well. These will be scheduled with as much advance notice as possible. Members should make every effort to attend. Transportation to all rehearsals and performances will be the responsibility of the choir members. Teen members must have a parent/guardian with them at all community events.
Online posts
I often posts videos or pictures of performances and/or rehearsals online. By enrolling in the group, you are giving your permission to be included in these posts. I will not include last names of any performers without their individual permission.
Music and Materials
Members will be issued a folder at the beginning of each semester with their music for the semester. These folders will be taken home between rehearsals, and members should arrive at each rehearsal with their folder and a pencil (not pen.) The folders and music will be collected at the end of the semester. Members are responsible for paying for extra copies of any missing or damaged music or folders at the end of the semester, according to the list price of the materials.
Concert Dress
You will be required to purchase a Shoreline Singers tee-shirt for use at some performances. Formal concert dress will be black pants/skirt with a solid, bright-colored top. Community performance dress will be jeans with your Shoreline Singers tee-shirt.
Minimum Enrollment
There is a minimum enrollment of 10 members for every semester.
